Update on the New York Times Hit Job on the Navy
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MzFlZWU0MWYwMWMxZjUyYTdlNTJmZGQ0ZTMxYTQ5N2Q
This is an update to the major "pooch srewing" done by the New York Times against the navy. The writer of the article, Mark Hemingway looks into the political bias's of the hit job, Sara Corbett.
" After I read the about the Times Magazine’s problem over the weekend I immediately Googled “Sara Corbett” in conjunction with “Mother Jones.” Sure enough, Corbett has written for the ballyhooed liberal bimonthly. As had Jack Hitt. Further, while there were no problems found with the article per se, another recent Times Magazine article on abortion rankled quite a few people; Emily Bazelon questioned whether women who’ve had abortions suffer as a result, titled “Is There a Post Abortion Syndrome?” Bazelon is, not improbably, Betty Friedan’s cousin and previously had written a skeptical article about the group Feminists for Life for — you guessed it — Mother Jones."
Here is an idea about how to eliminate such works of fiction; why not hire more people that have differing political views than those of Mother Jones magazine? What do you think? email me or post them to my blog.

The New York Times Screws the Pooch
http://www.regrettheerror.com/2007/03/source_deludes_.html
If you think the previous examples I have written on where massive displays of media bias, you have not read anything yet. The New York Times, "the paper of record" wrote a story in its March 18, 2007 edition about Amorita Randall, a former Navy Seabee(for those of you who do not know these are the Navy's construction battalions). The following is from the regrettheerror blog.
"The New York Times published a lengthy editor's note yesterday. Actually, it published two of them; both are on this site today. This one involves a former naval construction worker who told the Times magazine that she served in Iraq, was in a Humvee that blew up, and was raped twice while serving in the Navy.
In fact, she never served in Iraq and a medal she received for service, which appeared to bolster her Iraq story, was awarded in error. The larger issue seems to be that the Navy wasn't able to come up with the correct information about her prior to publication. But were they given enough time? The editor's note says a "researcher" (fact checker) contacted the Navy "three days before the story went to press." Not exactly a lot of time to gather and evaluate the information, especially if some discrepancies emerge, which they did. A report in Air force Times (spotted by Gawker) quotes the Navy official as saying they weren't given enough time."
Do you think their was a massive retraction by the Times for doing a hatchet job on our brave sailors? Of course not! Did someone loose their jobs for screwing this up? No! As for researching this story it seems they did about as much as Dan Rather did on the Bush National Guard story.
What are your thoughts? email me or post them to my blog.

Where is the Outrage?
The group Orthodox Christians for Accountability has published more stories about the mishandling of the abuse scandals in the Orthodox Church.
http://ocanews.org/news/BlackFriday.html
Here is the money quote from the writer.
"The patent absurdity of the situation the entire OCA has been place in by the bishops is truly inexcusable and unacceptable. It boggles the mind and kills the spirit. The Bishop's adopt a Report, which in their own words presents clear and compelling evidence of shocking financial crimes and they name the guilty party in a public statement.* The following day, the Metropolitan dismisses the man who gave so much of his time and efforts to creating the Report, and the Archbishop of the South seeks to give the guilty party a pass. Truly, this is March madness."
If this had been Cardinal Mahony, Bishop Grahmann or even Cardinal Law the MSM would be besides themselves in rage and indignation. Yet nothing even from former malcontents who made their careers out of venting at any every percieved act of ineptness or criminality by those Catholics. The bias is getting so thick you can cut a knife with it. Yet where is the outrage? Not just in the MSM but even from our own Catholic bloggers . What more proof do you need? A cross burning in front of your parish or what? Yes, we should condemn the real ineptness and criminality of all who allowed this debacle to go on. Regardless of whether they are Cardinals, Bishops Priest or Laymen. That does not justifty enabling this bias or pretending that this is only a Catholic problem as some in the media claim.

Liberalism and Conservatism Fr. Benedict Groeschel
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/25/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/25WEpeople.html?bl&ex=1174968000&en=2394bf8396d6e71c&ei=5087%0A
In a surprise the New York Times published this positive article about Fr. Benedict Groeschel. In it the reporter notes Fr. Groeschel was friends with Michael Schwerner's father and been with him when he found out his son was murdered in Miss in 1964. Despite that he never wavered in his support of tradional Conservative Catholic beliefs. Here is the quote that Father Groeschel uses to summarize what he is:
"I used to be a liberal, if liberal means concern for the other guy,” Father Groeschel said. “Now I consider myself a conservative-liberal-traditional-radical-confused person.”
His old friend Mrs. O’Keeffe doesn’t see any contradiction. “If you knew the man all along, you just see a human being developing from one place to another,” she said. “His basic simplicity, intelligence and love of people has never changed. He’s still clothing the poor and feeding the hungry.”
He seems to be a modern equivelent of Dorothy Day. Who was lionized in the "Progressive" media for her work in civil rights and protesting wars but is considered "verboden' because she was also a "Traditionalist" Catholic who oppossed Abortion on demand and the Sexual Revolution. if we had more people like this we would not have as much problems as we do.
I also like the quotes he had about the Anti-Catholic bias in the media.
"He questions why Catholic priests were singled out over clergy of other denominations who may have committed sexual improprieties and says that many of the allegations were ambiguous or unsubstantiated. “Seldom in the history of journalism have I seen such virulent attacks on any institution that is supposed to receive fair treatment in the press,” he writes."
I could not agree more. What are your thoughts? email me or post them to my blog.

Archbishop refusing to have Father Katinas Defrocked
http://orthodoxreform.org/news/archbishop-refusing-to-have-fr-katinas-defrocked/
The website Orthodox Reform reports that Archbishop Demetrios of America is so far refusing to send Rev. Nicholas Katinas, former pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Dallas, to Spiritual Court for defrocking, effectively keeping him on suspended status indefinitely. Given what has been revealed about this case their is an evident double standard. If this had been Bishop Grahmann or Cardinal Mahony doing this people like Mr. Dreher et. al would be having major hissy fits and it would be played as another example of how out of touch and inept those Catholic bishops are. Yet barely a word is spoken about it in the MSM. Some people wonder why Catholics like me see bias in the MSM. It is about sutle as a being beat over the head with the bible. What are your thoughts? Email me or post them to this blog.

Mr. Dreher's Cardinal Mahony Post
http://www.beliefnet.com/blogs/crunchycon/2007/03/mahony-liar.html
Mr. Dreher once again commented on how much of a liar Cardinal Mahony is. As if you need a cyrstal ball to see that. What bothers me is this post he had regarding Pope John Paul II.
"I was repeatedly assured, back in the day, that JPII "could not" remove malefactor bishops. He could have. Really and truly. Ask the Bishop of Parthenia. " I responded under an anonymous post which will be deleted ASAP.
"Maybe like the Dallas Morning News could have reported on abuses going on in Orthodox and other churches. Then again why confuse your readers by making it appear to be only a Catholic problem. What are your thoughts? email me or post them to my blog.

Dreher's LA Times review
Anyone care to guess what Mr. Dreher had to do to get this privilege of writing for the LA Times? I think it is similar to when Andrew Sullivan was allowed to write for the NY Times.

In both cases, when they where "Loyal Catholics" they were not allowed within miles of these papers. However, when they both jump ship and become non Catholics as well as enablers of Anti-Catholicism the doors to the MSM open wide. What are your thoughts? Email me or post them to my blog.

Valerie Plame's Testimony
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2003_10/002395.php
I watched Mrs. Plame's testimony in Congress and was troubled why no one inquired about the following. To what extent was her "Covert Cover" compromised by the traitor Aldrich Aimes? Because if she was compromised by Mr. Aimes and brought home as a result, why would she be sent out again to do covert work? To me that would be the equivelent of placing a bull's eye on her. It would then follow that Mr. Novak et. al. did not compromise her work and destroy her ability to serve in the CIA. What are your thoughts?

Sudan ruled liable for USS Cole Bombing
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/military/20070315-0042-usscole-lawsuit.html
In a heading I would classify as better late than never, a Federal judge ruled that Sudan helped Al-Queada with the 2000 attack on the USS Cole. This was an attack that killed 17 sailors including one Andrew Tripplet a former shipmate and friend.

Has the Greek Orthodox Church learned lessons from the Roman Catholic Church?
http://orthodoxreform.org/news/has-greek-orthodox-church-learned-any-lessons-from-roman-catholic-church/
In an update on the Greek Orthodox Scandal in Dallas, the group Orthodox Reform seems to think there is a coverup going on with regards to the case. Here is a quote from the story
"It’s inconceivable and, to some extent, foolish to try and persuade us on February 17 not to publish a story about Father Katinas’ case, and then to issue a news release admitting the problem on February 23." Yet the MSM will not cover it. Given Mr. Dreher's outrage over what went on at his former parish St. Mary the Virgin and the Dallas diocese's handling of Father Alvarez it speaks volumes about the bias. Please email me or post responses on this blog.

Regarding the Libby Trial
American Thinker has the best and most succinct take on this that I've seen. Excerpt:
The evidence against Libby falls far short of proving beyond reasonable doubt that he lied about anything to anyone. Differing recollections about the details and chronology of trivial events prove nothing. The Libby prosecution rested on the undefended and indefensible assumption that Libby and the rest of Washington's movers and shakers were obsessed with the identity of an obscure bureaucrat with a tangential connection to a small controversy on the fringes of important events. In reality, neither Libby nor anyone else connected with the case had reliable recall about who said what to whom regarding Valerie Plame because the subject was not particularly important to anyone until enemies of the administration at the CIA and the DOJ manufactured a criminal investigation out of it.

Hillary Clinton's Southern Drawl
http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/story?id=2923567&page=1
In an appearance at Selma Alabama's First Baptist Church, Senator Clinton effected a Southern drawl about as real as Foghorn Leghorn's. If a Republican had tried this they would have been crucified by the Liberal media.
