Special Interest Aliens Smuggled into US
Hugh Hewitt recently did an interview with Todd Bensman of the San Antonio Express News. In this interview he shows how Aliens from Jihadist countries are able to come into the US with the greatest of ease. It is something to look into.

"Because all but a tiny fraction of those arrested crossing the southern border are Mexican or Central American, issues of border security get framed accordingly and cast in the image of America's neighbors to the south. Right or wrong, in this country the public face of illegal immigration has Latino features.
But there are others coming across the Rio Grande, and many are in Boles' image.
People from 43 so-called "countries of interest" in the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa are sneaking into the United States, many by way of Texas, forming a human pipeline that exists largely outside the public consciousness but that has worried counterterrorism authorities since 9-11.
These immigrants are known as "special-interest aliens." When caught, they can be subjected to FBI interrogation, detention holds that can last for months and, in rare instances, federal prison terms. The perceived danger is that they can evade being screened through terror-watch lists."

US Army rescue 42 Iraqi Hostages from Al Qaeda Prison
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,275716,00.html
On this Memorial Day Weekend we see why this country is blessed with some of the best and brightest people who do so much in Iraq. Here is a quote from the story.
"U.S. forces raided an Al Qaeda hide-out northeast of Baghdad on Sunday and freed 42 Iraqis imprisoned inside, including some who had been tortured and suffered broken bones, a senior U.S. military official said Sunday."
It is a shame more in the media will not show more of these acts of bravery, instead of just focusing on how much Iraq is like Vietnam. What do you think?

ABC NEWS REPORTS ON "COVERT ACTION" AGAINST IRAN
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/05/bush_authorizes.html
Mr. Brian Ross of ABC NEWS, has leaked the existence of a plan to destabilize the government of Iran. They where not backing assassination attempts or some Juntas like in the past but they only seemed to be working with opposition groups to promote change in Iran. What bothers me is that they leaked this info in a time of war which will be used be our enemies to fuel their hatred of Americans. What should also bother you is the tone taken by this piece. As if we should refrain from removing a regime whose leader denies the Holocaust, says he will wipe Israel off the map and of course wants Nukes. What are we supposed to do Mr. Ross? Grovel and Kiss Mr. Ahmadinejad's ass? Maybe we should appease him and the Mullah's who run that country? You should read Mark Bowden's book "Guests of the Ayatollah" to see what a success that was. We do not need to declare war on Iran; however that does not mean we should play nice with them either. Let ABC know what you think of this. I am! What do you think?

Mexican Bloodbath raises fears in US
http://www.nogalesinternational.com/articles/2007/05/18/news/news1.txt
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55781
These stories give glarring examples of the main issue both sides of the immigration ignore. That issue is the increased violence in Mexico will push people out of Mexico into places that do not have the violence, such as the US. Even if you build a Berlin Wall style fence along the Rio Grande or allow open borders for whoever; you will still have immigration problems. Until we work the Mexicans and others to control the violence; the problem will continue. What do you think?

Jesse Adam Macbeth charged with Falsifying Record
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18748026
"Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, formerly of Phoenix, garnered attention on blogs and in some alternative media after he began claiming in 2005 to have been awarded a Purple Heart for his service, which he said included slaughtering innocents in a Fallujah mosque. His story was contradicted by his discharge form, showing that he was kicked out of the Army after six weeks at Fort Benning, Ga., in 2003 because of his “entry level performance and conduct.”
A complaint unsealed Friday in U.S. District Court in Seattle charged him with one count of using or possessing a forged or altered military discharge certificate, and one count of making false statements in seeking benefits." It goes to show you what people will do to get ahead and compensate for their inadequacies. I hope he gets the book thrown at him. What do you think? Email me or post your comments to this blog.

Springtime in Islamberg

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=28289
When listening to the Laura Ingraham show today, I heard a Journalist named Paul Williams discuss his travels to Islamberg.
"Situated in the Catskill Mountains on the outskirts of Hancock, New York, Islamberg is not an ideal place for a summer vacation unless, of course, you are an exponent of the Jihad or a fan of Osama bin Laden.
The 70 acre complex is surrounded with "No trespassing" signs; the rocky terrain is infested with rattlesnakes; and the woods are home to black bears, coyotes, wolves, and a few bobcats.
A sentry post has been established at the base of the hill.
The sentry, at the time of this visit, is an African American dressed in Islamic garb - - a skull cap, a prayer shawl, and a loose fitting shalwat kameez. He instructs us to turn around and leave. "Our community is not open to visitors,"
Does this bother anyone? We hear the news media talk for hours about the compounds run by the KKK, Aryan Nations to name a few. As they should! Doesnt it follow people should equally be as concerned with Radical Muslims who congregate in Paramilitary compounds as they are about Neo-Nazis? If it was just one compound than that would be one thing. Unfortunately, there are a great deal more compounds. What do you think? Email me or post your comments to this blog.

Why I Do What I Do Part 2
The almighty Mark Shea has posted a response to my first blog posting of "Why I do What I Do"
http://markshea.blogspot.com/search/label/Doings%20on%20Other%20Blogs
First, let me say I was wrong to lump Victor Morton in with Dom, Mark and Rod. Although they all claim to be friends with Mr. Dreher as Mr. Morton put it:
"To quote the Arabian Proverb "The Enemy of my Enemy is Friend."I have no enemies who could transform Shea into any kind of friend, Carpenter."
Fair enough; let us know analyze Mr. Bettinelli's post to Shea's blog.
"I'm amused by the fact that he dispute my characterizaton of him as disturbed and a cyberstalker ... while harping on a subject no one's discussed in over seven months. Has he been sitting and stewing over this all this time?I looked over my blog posts he linked. I don't see anything in them that can be construed as attacking him the way he says."
Really, let us look into this by going into the response to my post on Mr. Bettinelli's blog.
http://www.bettnet.com/blog/index.php/weblog/comments/the_first_dmn_story/
In this blog you can see I have a temper and said some stupid things. However, the implication was because I raised some criticism's of the way the DMN reported the abuse stories I was enabling the culture of abuse in our church. First, I may not be a father or have any kids but I take strong offense to the idea that somehow I enabled this abuse because I did not jump on the DMN's bandwagon.
Here is another example of what I mean
http://www.bettnet.com/blog/index.php/weblog/comments/cardinal_rodriguezs_role/
This is Rod's response to me in this blog:
"Jonathan, I don’t respond to your e-mails because you have a semi-hysterical one-note agenda that has very little to do with the actual work of journalism. All journalists hear from folks like you all the time, on various issues. From your e-mails, I get the impression that you could have a gaggle of sozzled cardinals spanking the bare bottoms of altar boys on your back patio, and you’d be on the front porch screaming bloody murder about the Protestants down the street to avoid having to go back there and take care of the problem."
No response from Mr. Bettinelli. The only impression given was that unless you followed his "Hang em all Let God Sort Them Out" mantra you enabled this abuse.
Yet, Mr. Bettinelli, still wonders how people could see these blogs as attacks on them? Anybody have any ideas?
Finally Mr. Bettinelli says on Mr. Shea's blog
"And I will say in all earnestness that I pray every night in our family prayers for Jonathan, Carol, and anyone else who is under the misapprehension that they are my "enemy" or anything of the like."
That is nice. God knows I can use the prayers of everyone possible. However, Mr. Bettinelli did you ever think people would be "under the misapprehension that they are my "enemy" or anything of the like;" if you actually held your colleagues to the same account you did all those priests and bishops? Your friend Mr. Dreher et.al. have wrote many stories about the abuse and ineptness of Catholic Bishops and Priests in this atrocity; how many have they wrote about the abuse going on schools or even in Mr. Dreher's new communion , the Orthodox Church of America?
www.orthodoxreform.org
www.ocanews.com
None! It is far easier for them to make it seem like it is just a Catholic problem rather a problem that affects many parts of our society. Finally, how can the Dallas Morning News write an editorial out of the NARAL playbook, yet get no oppossing view from Mr. Dreher or any of the other "Conservatives" at that paper?
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-abortion_24edi.ART.State.Edition1.4286e68.html
Mr. Dreher's colleague, Mike Hashimoto wrote a reply to the DMN's editorial calling for the repeal of the Death Penalty .
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/columnists/mhashimoto/stories/DN-deathhashimoto_15edi.ART.State.Edition1.42ce26c.html
Why is no similar response allowed on Abortion? Food for thought. Email me or reply on this blog.

Don Cheadle's Campaign against the Darfur Crisis
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270492,00.html
Academy Award Nominee Don Cheadle, star of the masterpiece Hotel Rwanda, is patricipating in a campaign with www.crisisgroup.com to end the violence in the Darfur region of Sudan. For those of you who do not know the Arab militias of Sudan's government is the Janjaweed militia, whose members have raped, killed and tortured Darfur civilians. Their have been millions placed in refugee camps, killed, wounded and even sold into slavery. We must work to stop this atrocity. What do you think?
P.S.: The book detailing Mr. Cheadle's campaign is here.
It also has some advice people can use for to bring attention to this cause and make real changes.

Why I do What I do
As many of you who have read this blog and the various ones I have written on; I have a big problem with the DMN's "Psuedo-Conservative" Rod Dreher. Some of you know I also am one of the main people who "outed" his coversion to Orthodoxy, done while he maintained the air of a loyal Catholic in Communion with the Holy See. Some of you wonder what concern it was of mine and if I should have left him alone. The following is from one of Mr. Dreher's friends and blogger Domenico Bettinelli.
http://www.bettnet.com/blog/index.php/weblog/comments/rod_and_orthodoxy/
"What’s quite disturbing is how this became public. A disturbed individual who is nearly a cyberstalker wrote to the Orthodox parish in Dallas to ask the priest if Rod was now Orthodox and the priest--imprudently, in my opinion--replied in the affirmative. This isn’t anyone’s business, but this busybody has had a burr under his saddle for a long time about Rod. He’s shown up here several times, always riding his hobby horse. I’ve even received a number of private emails from this guy that make me question his stability. I’m not sure why Rod has become the special target of his ire since he’s far from the only Catholic journalist to have criticized the Church. "
Let us analyze this and see the facts behind Mr. B's spin.
"What’s quite disturbing is how this became public. A disturbed individual who is nearly a cyberstalker wrote to the Orthodox parish in Dallas to ask the priest if Rod was now Orthodox and the priest--imprudently, in my opinion--replied in the affirmative. "
First, I could care less what church he joins; what bothered me about Mr. Dreher is that while writing his many exposes criticizing the ineptness and criminality and many in the church leadership he maintained he was doing this as a loyal Catholic in Communion with the Holy See.
Read comment 140 on the following blog from Mr. Dreher.
http://catholica.pontifications.net/?p=1659#comments
You could also read the following blogs.
http://www.beliefnet.com/blogs/crunchycon/2006/06/feast-day.html
http://www.beliefnet.com/blogs/crunchycon/2006/08/wiki-me-baby.html
As you can see the way he phrased his comments where vague at best and had people believing he was still debating wether or not to convert. My only course was to email his priest who confirmed that Mr. Dreher was Orthodox.
"It isn’t anyone’s business, but this busybody has had a burr under his saddle for a long time about Rod. "
True, Dom where Mr. Dreher goes to church is no ones business but his own. Howver, does it bother you that he was not candid with everyone as he is in this post when he admits he had been Orthodox for at least 2 months prior to that?" I guess not!
http://www.beliefnet.com/blogs/crunchycon/2006/10/orthodoxy-and-me.html
"but this busybody has had a burr under his saddle for a long time about Rod."
The reason I have a burr under my saddle about Rod, is the sanctimonious attitude he and for that matter Dom displays towards anyone who disagrees with him. An example would be the following.
http://www.bettnet.com/blog/index.php/weblog/comments/the_first_dmn_story/
http://www.bettnet.com/blog/index.php/weblog/comments/cardinal_rodriguezs_role/
"He’s shown up here several times, always riding his hobby horse. I’ve even received a number of private emails from this guy that make me question his stability."
A search of Dom's site shows I appeared a few times in 2004 to offer my point of view to him the way he allows others to. I guess because I am not apart of the clique he shares with Rod, Mark Shea et. al. I don't need to be heard. I wish I could have spent the 90s developing my blogging prowess as Mr. Dreher and Mr. Bettinelli had but I spent those years away defending our country in a service both of them chose to avoid. As for my tone, I admit I can be strident Dom and I am trying to work on that but did you ever think if you treated someone like me with a little more respect we would be where we are?
Have you ever seen the movie "Changing Lanes"? It stars Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson. It is about an attorney (Ben Affleck) in a rush to make a court appointment to file legal papers involving a multi-million dollar trust accidentally collides with an alcoholic insurance salesman (Samuel Jackson), who also is a rush for a court appointment involving the custody of his children. The attorney leaves the scene of the accident and strands the salesman, causing him to miss his custody hearing. During the process of the post-crash discussion, the attorney accidentally drops the papers he needs to present in court. A few questionable actions later on both parties' part, they finally start questioning their actions and their lives. " This point was brought home to me when Ben Affleck admits "I should have just given him my car insurance." The same applies to Dom, Rod and others who I have encountered. Do you think if any of you offered any encouragement and support to someone like me instead of treating me like the kid you beat up in school we would be in this place? I do not think so.
Finally, he said "I’m not sure why Rod has become the special target of his ire since he’s far from the only Catholic journalist to have criticized the Church ."
True he is not the only Catholic who criticized the church, but what do you do with someone who refuses to offer anyh criticisms to his paper's editorial "A Right Denied"?
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-abortion_24edi.ART.State.Edition1.4286e68.html
This could have been written by NARAL or Planned Parenthood. Tell me what is Conservative about this? Also, tell me what is Conservative about supporting an editorial that supports the awarding of a Pulitzer towards the New York Time's Columnist Walter Duranty?
http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-8983202_ITM
My biggest beef with Dreher et. al. who make the abuse problem seem like it is only a Catholic problem and refuse to cover other examples of abuse such as detailed at the blog.
www.orthodoxreform.org
In conclusion, while I am responsible for the majority of what I do, you should also look at these perfumed princes of the blogosphere for the role they play in marginalizing people who are not in their clique or do not canonize them.

This could have been written by NARAL or Planned Parenthood. Tell me what is Conservative about this? Also, tell me what is Conservative about supporting an editorial that supports the awarding of a Pulitzer towards the New York Time's Columnist Walter Duranty?

My biggest beef with Dreher et. al. who make the abuse problem seem like it is only a Catholic problem and refuse to cover other examples of abuse such as detailed at the blog.

In conclusion, while I am responsible for the majority of what I do, you should also look at these perfumed princes of the blogosphere for the role they play in marginalizing people who are not in their clique or do not canonize them.

Senator Patrick Leahy's Response to the Pope
http://www.miamiherald.com/884/story/101826.html
When asked about the pope's comments regarding possible excommunication of Catholic politicians who support abortion rights, Senator Patrick Leahy (VT) had this to say: "I’ve always thought also that those bishops and archbishops who for decades hid pederasts and are now being protected by the Vatican should be indicted." Isn't it nice that Catholics have such nice representatives from the People's Republic of Vermont? What do you think about such remarks? Email me or post your comments to this blog.
Also, let Senator Leahy know what you think of them. His email address is as follows:

Unsung Hero who stopped Fort Dix Plot
http://www.thnt.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070509/NEWS/70509011
We should give thanks for the Circuit City Employee who spotted the video of these Radical Muslims training to engage in a plot to attack Fort Dix, New Jersey. Sensing something was not right he called the police who then brought in the FBI that arrested these wannabe martyrs. This should behavior should be encouraged if we want to stop terrorism or other violence from happening in our neighborhoods. We do not need to turn our country into a police state to protect it. We must remember this great country of ours is only as good as we make it and that with the great freedom we have comes responsibility such as that shown by this Circuit City Employee. What do you think?

Oil Refineries
Gass Prices Soar as Refineries Choke
As many of you are no doubt aware, gas prices keep going through the roof. The reasons you ask? One, their is no doubt some gouging going on. Two, our cars do not always have enough good mileage. The main reason I think this is because the refineries can not keep up with the demand. Our population is increasing with the result of increased demand. Yet we have not constructed a refinery in over 20 years. Don't get me wrong -- conserving gas and other supplies are great and should be encouraged, but if we have increasing population and no refineries and other plants to meet the increased demand , should we be surprised when we have increasing prices for gas? I don't think so. I know a refinery is not pretty to have near you but unless you really like $4.00 a gallon gas we need to adapt to the changes. It is either that or go through the days like California went through with the rolling blackouts, odd/even day gas rationing, etc. How many of you want that? No one should! It will lead only to problems like those experienced by former California Governor Gray Davis. What do you think?

Navy Jack
By the time of the War of Independence, the rattlesnake, frequently used in conjunction with the motto "Don't Tread on Me," was a common symbol for the United States, its independent spirit, and its resistance to tyranny. As part of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the American Revolution, by an instruction dated 1 August 1975 (SECNAV Instruction 10520.3) the Secretary of the Navy directed the use of the rattlesnake jack in place of the union jack (blue field with white stars) during the period 13 October 1775 (the bicentennial of the legislation that created the Continental Navy, which the Navy recognizes as the Navy's birthday), and 31 December 1976.By an instruction dated 18 August 1980 (SECNAV Instruction 10520.4), the Secretary of the Navy directed that the commissioned ship in active status having the longest total period in active status to display the rattlesnake jack in place of the union jack until decommissioned or transferred to inactive status.By an instruction dated 31 May 2002 (SECNAV Instruction 10520.6), the Secretary of the Navy directed the use of the rattlesnake jack in place of the union jack for the duration of the Global War on Terrorism. I like this as a symbol of our independent spirit and as a resistance to tyranny be it from Islamofascists, Anti-Catholic bigots and other Media Elites? What do you think?
