Journalists Give Mostly to Democrats

MSNBC did a story where they investigated the political contributions of Reporters from various newspapers, local and network news stations. Here is the mooney quote from the article.
"MSNBC.com identified 143 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 16 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties."

Some people still wonder why their people gripe about Media bias. I do not know. What do you think?

Index of Prayers for Military Service

http://www.catholicmil.org/html/prayers_militaryservice.php#

The Archdiocese of Military Services has a great link of prayers for Military Service. The following prayer is one of my favorite.

"O eternal Lord, God, you alone spread out the heavens and rule the raging sea. Take into your most gracious protection our country's Navy and all who serve therein. Preserve them from the dangers of the sea and from the violence of the enemy, that they may be a safeguard unto the United States of America, and a security for such as sail upon the seas in peaceful and lawful missions. In serving you, O Lord, may our Sailors serve their country; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."

New book details Hitler's plot to kidnap Pius XII and control Vatican treasures

http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0703108.htm

"An SS general close to Adolf Hitler foiled a plot to kidnap Pope Pius XII during World War II and to put the Vatican and its treasures under Nazi control, according to a new book. The book, "A Special Mission" by Dan Kurzman, refutes arguments that Pope Pius XII maintained a public silence about Nazi actions during World War II because he was anti-Semitic or because he was sympathetic toward Hitler."They were bitter, bitter enemies. They despised each other," said Kurzman of the pontiff and the fuhrer in a May 31 telephone interview with Catholic News Service."

From what I have heard it is pretty compelling and will do a great deal to shoot down this BS that Pius was "Hitler's Pope." The exception being those who already have their minds made up about how "Pro-Nazi" he was. With some people it does not matter how many hours they are let loose in the Vatican Archives or how much proof you show them. They will always think the worse about the church in general and Pius in particular. What do you think?

Indictment sought against "Cold Cash" Jefferson

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/04/politics/main2882231.shtml

In a story I would file under the phrase "Better Late than Never;" CBS News is reporting that the Justice Department tomorrow is going to seek indictments against Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA). The charges will be for more than a dozen incidents of "Public Corruption." For those of you who do not know the Congressman, he gained fame as the Congressman whom the FBI had found with $90,000 in his freezer. Hence the name, "Cold Cash Jefferson." Now if they only could add that Alumni from the ABSCAM scandal, John Murtha, it would be a clean sweep. One can only hope. What do you think?
