Barack Obama and William Ayers

Rather than devote hours and hours to discussing Barack Obama's middle name or whether or not he is a secret Muslim someone should ask him about his association with William Ayers.

"I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.” Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said. Obama’s connections to Ayers and Dorhn have been noted in some fleeting news coverage in the past. But the visit by Obama to their home — part of a campaign courtship — reflects more extensive interaction than has been previously reported.
Neither Ayers nor the Obama campaign would describe the relationship between the two men. Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends,” but there’s no evidence their relationship is more than the casual friendship of two men who occupy overlapping Chicago political circles and who served together on the board of a Chicago foundation."

You might be asking what is about Professor Ayers you find so troubling? He was a Leader in the Weather Underground.

"Ayers was an active participant in Weatherman's 1969 "Days of Rage" riots in Chicago, where nearly 300 members of the organization employed guerrilla-style tactics to viciously attack police officers and civilians alike, and to destroy massive amounts of property via vandalism and arson; their objective was to further spread their anti-war, anti-American message. Reminiscing on those riots, Ayers says pridefully: "We'd ... proven that it was possible -- we didn't all die, we were still there." A substantial portion of Ayers' book Fugitive Days discusses the author's penchant for building and deploying explosives. Ayers boasts that he "participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972." Of the day he bombed the Pentagon, Ayers says, "Everything was absolutely ideal. ... The sky was blue. The birds were singing. And the bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them."On another occasion, Ayers stated: "There's something about a good bomb … Night after night, day after day, each majestic scene I witnessed was so terrible and so unexpected that no city would ever again stand innocently fixed in my mind. Big buildings and wide streets, cement and steel were no longer permanent. They, too, were fragile and destructible. A torch, a bomb, a strong enough wind, and they, too, would come undone or get knocked down." All told, Ayers and Weatherman were responsible for 30 bombings aimed at destroying the defense and security infrastructures of the U.S. "I don't regret setting bombs, said Ayers in 2001, "I feel we didn't do enough."

I think Senator Obama needs to explain his association with this Professor. What do you think?

Comments:
Just to clarify, the Weather Underground went out of their way to keep people from being harmed by their actions. In fact, the only people directly harmed by the actions of the WU were three activists within the group who died while building a bomb in an apartment (Ayers and Dohrn were not involved in this incident).

The characterization of Ayers and Dohrn as terrorists may have some weak argumentative points, but the implications of their actions versus those of modern terrorists of today are very far from the same.

The WM strategically attacked vacant government buildings in protest of the Vietnam War, the unwarranted violence in prisons, and the inequality perpetuated by various federal institutions. Since emerging from 'Underground,'

Mr. Ayers has continued to be active in fighting the inequalities that, sadly, remain in countless facets of America. Mr. Ayers' writings on the inequity in education are simultaneously hopeful and imbued with radical energy. One can clearly see that his revolutionary spirit has not died, but rather that he has taken a more informed and mature angle at ameliorating the problems in our country.

Barack Obama has used politics as his vehicle for providing change in America, and has never advocated or pardoned the violence perpetrated by Ayers and the Weather Underground. However, he and Mr. Ayers share their common desire to make our country a less racist, bigoted, sexist, classist, and ignorant society.

It is precisely this ignorance that can perpetuate the effects of an article such as that above. Sadly, even with the amount of resources out there (i.e. Wikipedia, Ayers' memior, films, etc...), countless people will allow their minds to be swayed by such an immature and loaded attack-piece.

Ayers also wrote that he was 'embarrassed by the arrogance, the solipsism, the absolute certainty that we and we alone knew the way...The rigidity and the narcissism.'

Cameron is dead wrong. The fact of the matter is that individuals such as Obama and Ayers wish to perpetuate the alleged inequities in this country as a vehicle to achieve their own power grab. It is by fragmenting the nation into various victim groups and classes in order to breed mass dependency. It's a ploy that the radical left has been using for nearly a century all over the world, and it remains as their best tactic.

Wikipedia clears everything up.... riiiiiight.

One of Ayers friends paraylized a police officer in 1988 by ramming his head into a cement post.

Ayers, if he thought of using a jetliner, would have done so.

Obama and Ayers worked together for 3 years.

Obama's wife was not proud of the USA during and after 911. And Obama will not salute the flag.

Why on Earth is Obama running anyway?

I have in the distant past been in the company of both Ayers and Dohrn (even in their home). Being the ideological antithesis of the 'Weathermen' movement and having more than a casual knowledge of their operational goals for reasons I choose not to share, I was nonetheless curious to see what mindset is in play, that contributes to the development of what is referred to today as 'domestic terrorism.' This is my take on the couple. They are as charming and intelligent as they are committed and venomous. They are not aging hippie types whom time has past by, but rather they still maintain the fire of commitment to their shared anarchists ideology of some four decades. As much as they would like the public to think that their activism, terrorism as it were, was successful in achieving their ultimate goals (i.e., "legends-in-their-own-minds") they know on balance they failed. Both of them are too intelligent not to have analyzed and reflected on the facts (over all these years) and then concluded they have not yet achieved goals set out for themselves in the 60's & 70's. However, I would submit that an Obama presidency would finally provide them an institutional ("establishment") vehicle to finally achieve what they failed to achieve 40 years ago. Mark my words; because of their personable, charismatic and intellectual persona's -- in an Obama presidency, I would expect Ayers would be appointed to a high ranking policy position in the Department of Education. Dohrn on the other hand will be appointed to a policy position in the Justice Department. Not exactly the kind of domestic terrorism they cut their teeth on so long ago, however, this scenario would finally provide the couple an opportunity to achieve from the inside what they failed to achieve from the outside looking in with their bombs. Remember, the Justice Department oversees the FBI and eduction provides knowledge to our progeny. What better way to clear the slate of all past failures to destroy the "military-industrial complex" through violence than to manipulate a way they can join that 'complex' and then destroy it from within like a cancer. Then these two leftists along with their cronies can begin to seed their brand of social responsibility in the minds and hearts of our youth. Although I believe Obama to be a bright fellow, he has a long way to go to be the intellectual equal of either Ayers or Dohrn. Truth be said, Obama is a mere stepping stone for the couple to have their ideology aired, otherwise he is meaningless even if he were to become president

They may not have killed anyone but three of their members(including Ayer's own girlfriend)accidentally, but they did disrupt the air war in Vietnam when they bombed the Pentagon. That too was an accident, but they have clearly expressed the delight this gave them.We will probably never really know the true impact of what they did with that act. What is most troubling to me is that these people have NEVER apologized and they still say they wish they had done more.Obama needs better playmates than the characters he continuously surrounds himself with.He either has horrible judgment or he shares these radical views. It's easier to believe the latter given the fact these crazy white rich kids did these bombings for reasons we've now heard his pastor preach about from the pulpit. His pastor, and mentor, shares many of their views.I see something wrong with this picture.Don't you??

There is no way Obama can explain away his connection with Ayers. We are known by the company we keep.

Obama tells us it is 'ridiculous' to hold something Ayers did "...when I was eight years old" (bombing and terrorism) and not associate with him. Well, does that mean it is OK to associate with old lynch-gang members from the KKK or Holocaust prepretrators?? (After all, they did their bad deeds many moons ago.) Under St. Obama's philosophy, this is acceptable.

Good point. But you're not allowed to point out even the most basic similarities between groups like the KKK and the Weather Underground.

New Photograph surfaces of BILL AYERS--he is STOMPING on the AMERICAN FLAG:

The financial interests of John Mccain's friends are more dangerous to America than Barack Obama's various mentors.

Is it not possible to interact with someone and not be irrevocably influenced by their opinions? I don't care for how long. "We are known by the company we keep." Rubbish. Sack up and be your own man.

Oh, yeah, rubbish, right. I remember when Timothy McVeigh and I used to hang out together. He had a lot of really good ideas. The whole bomb thing was a phase, I'm telling you.

thinking it's a phase is one thing, but I do commend you on standing face to face with an evil man without becoming evil yourself. Just like Barack Obama, you're a wiser man because of the experience.

OMG, I can't believe you played along with that (or fell for it?) If anyone hung with McVeigh and then ran for public office that fact would be 100% fair game to bring it up. Likewise these radicals. You know, there were many normal liberals who were against campus radicals in the sixties, it wasn't some kind of conservative thing. These people are dangerous and those who are friendly with them cannot be trusted.

William Ayers is no more a terrorist than Charkles Manson is a murderer.Charlie never killed anyone did he?
