Here's the deal

Well, I've decided that I'm going to close up shop on this blog. Basically, neither Jonathan nor I have been adding much to it.

For the last several years, I've really just been concentrating on my personal blog, "Est Quod Est", which I call a "kitchen sink blog". That means that in addition to politics, we discuss religion, rock and roll and art over there. Sometimes it's heavy, sometimes it's light, but it's always exactly what it is, as the title suggests.

So this site will be left up for archival purposes, but if you want to see what's on my mind, kick on over to Est Quod Est.

New Film: Indoctrinate U

Hat tip to Stanley Kurtz who got to screen it and has a great review over at the corner.

I remember seeing pieces of this several years ago. One of the film-makers was on the Medved show at the time and the working title was something 101. To support the film, go to this web-site. Rocking soundtrack, I have to say.

Worst Ex-Pres

Hmmmm.... wonder who that could be? This piece on Carter by Joshua Muravchik provides a great snapshot of the man behind the "born again" mask. Here's my favorite paragraph:

Topping it off was Carter's reaction when, as a result of the Democratic gubernatorial primary, Lester Maddox emerged as his running mate. Maddox, a restaurateur and Sanders's successor as governor, had gained notoriety by distributing to the customers of his whites-only establishment ax handles with which to batter any blacks who might seek to be served there. Carter took the pairing in stride, characterizing Maddox as "the essence of the Democratic party."

I guess using just the handle on blacks without the axe blade epitomizes the compassion of the Southern Democrat.
