Here's the deal

Well, I've decided that I'm going to close up shop on this blog. Basically, neither Jonathan nor I have been adding much to it.

For the last several years, I've really just been concentrating on my personal blog, "Est Quod Est", which I call a "kitchen sink blog". That means that in addition to politics, we discuss religion, rock and roll and art over there. Sometimes it's heavy, sometimes it's light, but it's always exactly what it is, as the title suggests.

So this site will be left up for archival purposes, but if you want to see what's on my mind, kick on over to Est Quod Est.

"The Ten" Hollywood's Latest Assualt on Christianity

The following is from a Catholic League press release that speaks for itself.
http://www.catholicleague.org/07press_releases/quarter_3/070801_the_ten.htm
“The Ten” is billed as an irreverent comedy (rated “R” for crudeness) that ridicules the Ten Commandments; it opens on August 3 in select theaters. Here is what film critics are saying about it:

Catholic League president Bill Donohue had this to say: "If Hollywood were to substitute Muhammad for Jesus, it is a sure bet that many of these same critics wouldn’t find the humor in it. Moreover, we'd all be watching the fallout that such a movie would engender on the evening news." I couldn't agree more. What do you think?

CNN CONTRIBUTOR ROLAND MARTIN OFFENDS CATHOLICS

http://newsbusters.org/node/14135

Please read the following from Newsbusters.org

"On the same day that he attacked the GOP as being "scared of black folks," CNN contributor Roland Martin posted a column on CNN.com in which he proclaimed the "irrelevancy" of Pope Benedict XVI and the Catholic Church, specifically in the context of a recent document that clarified what the Catholic Church teaches about other Christian denominations. He advised non-Catholic Christians that they "shouldn't even bother getting upset" over the recent document issued by the Catholic Church. "Just chalk up to an old man trying to get a little attention," he said of Pope Benedict XVI. Martin also described the Pope as a "hardliner" who was trying to correct interpretations of the Second Vatican Council by liberals, who, in the Pope's view, had gone "too far in some of their declarations."

It is a shame that in showing his disagreement with the Catholic Church, Mr. Martin sounds more like someone who has read too many Jack Chick Tracts than the level headed progressive he normally is. It also shows that the worst Anti-Catholics are former Catholics with their own axes to grind.

The following is his blog where he posted this "insightful input". Let him now what you think of it.

"The Nativity Story" booted from Chicago Holiday Fair

In another example of Political Correctness run amok, Chicago Officials have asked organizers of a downtown Christmas festival, the German Christkindlmarket, to reconsider using a movie studio as a sponsor because it is worried ads for its film "The Nativity Story" might offend non-Christians. The last time I checked the first six letters of Christmas where Christ.

Please let officials in Chicago know how stupid this is. The address is

This is the Mayor's Office for Special Events which made the decision. It is headed by James Law. His address is
